Amanda Beck

I trained as an Illustrator and I am also an experienced Teacher.

I create fresh unique artwork capturing joyful seaside moments and activities. Through original colourful paintings, prints and greetings cards I hope to bring seaside light and freshness into your home!

I am lucky enough to live just 5 minutes’ walk from the sea which provides a wealth of daily inspiration and creative ideas for my artwork. Having taught life drawing for many years I am naturally drawn to creating work that includes the figure. I work both digitally and straight onto the canvas. As well as a sketchbook I’ll take my iPad out on location looking to capture everyday moments from people enjoying seaside activities to recording the amazing colours seen at sunrise and sunset.

I am experienced Teacher and really enjoy sharing my ideas with others. For last 10 years I taught art from the collections at the Ashmolean Museum in Oxford alongside working in the education department. I also worked as a Tour guide across the museums and for the Bodleian library. As an artist I also enjoyed sketching at live events.

I have had some exciting artists residencies from sketching engineers restoring classic and vintage cars at Bicester Heritage to documenting the fabrication of ‘Hope’ the Blue whale which now hangs in Hintze Hall at the Natural History Museum London. If this is something that interests you then please check out my blog page on my website.

I am now happily settled in Worthing and looking to start running sketching and location workshops in 2022. If you’d like to hear more about this and the art I am creating then please sign up to my newsletter on my website.
