The stimulus for my work mainly comes from life models. The charcoal drawings and sketches made either in the classes I attend or during plein air opportunities inform my oil paintings. On some occasions attending art galleries influences my style of painting.
My recent body of work is both potraiture and figurative and influenced by the Modigliani exhibition attended just before the pandemic. I enjoy studying the work of other artists including the old masters to experiment with my own techniques and style.
I am currently working on a new collection which also includes local landscapes. Working alongside other local artists has inspired me to take up this challenge.

Although I studied art as part of my degree in Education, it was only after retiring from teaching in 2017 that I returned to my passion for drawing and oil painting. Local classes organised by local artists became my opportunities to learn and become emersed in life drawing once again.
I believe that my work is still in its infancy and the work I produce is evolving. It is an exciting journey. Working alongside other talented artists has been the best experience to learn and challenge myself.
Recently, with encouragement from family and friends, I held my first local exhibition at East Beach Studios in Worthing ( February -April 2022). I have applied to exhibit work again this September 2022.
I have recently applied to be part of the Worthing Open Houses Art Trail this December 2022 and look foward to exhibiting a new body of work.
