Darius Rowland Art

I am a contemporary artist working primarily in acrylic on canvas. I use a large variety of canvas sizes so that I can produce cohesive collections that can fit with the different wall space available to clients. Some of my pieces are available as giclée fine art prints. My work collections range from figurative to abstract and I’m inspired greatly by my travels, by light, colour and texture. I undertake a wide and varied subject matter for commission work, which is both challenging and exciting! I find inspiration in photographs and by sketching and painting plein air when I’m abroad as well as here in the UK.

My interest in art started at a very young age. My father was a teacher and had a good selection of how-to-draw books in the house.
I would select these one by one and work my way through them, enjoying the process.
As a teenager I started airbrushing custom designs onto motorcycles, crash helmets and car body panels.
I began working in the art and advertising department of British American Tobacco in Guernsey, where I became art studio manager. The change in legislation regarding tobacco advertising meant a new career was needed so I took the opportunity to retrain as an airline pilot, which I still do on a part-time basis with Easyjet.
This part-time employment enables me to now enjoy painting from my home studio and exhibit in venues in Brighton, London and previously in the French Alps.
