Melissa Birch is an artist and printmaker who studied at Oxford University (BA Fine Art) and Chelsea College of Art (MA) during the 1990’s. Her work includes lino print, drawing and collage, and she enjoys mixing and playing with these different disciplines.
The stylised images in her work are created by carving soft lino and then printing by hand using a baron. Sometimes elements of collage are introduced to add extra colour and detail. Inspiration comes from the unruly flowerbeds of her own back garden and the countryside of the South Downs.
Running lino-printing workshops and art groups for pre-schoolers also keep the artist busy. Drawing on 20 years experience as a secondary school art teacher, Melissa is passionate about developing creativity in others. More details are on the website below.
