Claire Wilson

Incey Wincey Studio is the work of designer maker Claire Wilson. With her love of pattern and colour and inspired by nature, Claire brings a collection of work combining stitched and printed textiles in her beautifully muted colour palette. Using wool felt and Liberty fabric, her brooches and hair accessories are the perfect gift especially when paired with her screen prints and cards taken from her botanical drawings.

After studying for my degree in Textiles at Winchester School of Art I (eventually) found myself returning to Worthing, where I originally studied Textiles and Surface Pattern at Northbrook College.
Several years passed and I slowly started to dedicate some time to creating again.
In September 2015 I enrolled on a six week drawing course with Michelle Dawson, I hadn’t picked up a pen to draw since I was at art college! I loved it! I felt completely at ease drawing what I saw in front of me. I had found my love of drawing again. On the last day of the course I completed my study of a pineapple which will always be known to me as, “Pineapple on a Tuesday, Baby on a Wednesday”! My second daughter was born a day later and my focus was placed elsewhere for a while.

Since then, I took part in Inktober on Instagram. It was 2018 and I drew about 25 5″x5″ pen studies of flowers, this was my starting point and inspiration for my botanical screen prints from my drawings and also my collection A Year of Birth Flowers.

I sell my work locally at art fairs, markets and events. Over the last few years I have exhibited at Moth Studio Textiles during the Worthing Artists Open Houses and also at Botanica, an exhibition at Colonnade House showcasing botanical inspired artwork from local artists.

Last September I was part of a group of local artists who took part in Botanical Art Fair at Sussex Prairie Garden. My Cosmos screen print featured in the 2023 Country Living Eco Christmas Gift Guide. I will be at the Brighton Artists Open Houses for the first time this May.
