“I stumbled into this clearing not too far from my cottage in the Loire Valley by taking a wrong turning on a long run. I struggled to find it again but when I did I returned with my sketchbook and some small pots of ink. It felt like it was undisturbed by time and the sounds of nature which are like an orchestra in this area could not permeate the trees which encircled it”.
