Some children lack confidence in drawing and need encouragement to get started. Others need help to hone their skills. This class is perfect for children aged 8 – 12 and will give them the framework to complete an impressive drawing while learning about proportion, shading and lots more important elements of drawing. Each month, we’ll create a different pencil drawing in order to build a range of skills.

In each session, we’ll start with a fun warm up drawing exercise, then move on to a beginner friendly drawing, which will be completed step by step together. More confident artists will have room to grow and those less confident will get lots of practical tips. After everyone has completed their drawing, children will have some “freestyle time”. For this section, we’ll play some music and everyone is free to finish their picture any way they choose – add more detail, add a background, add some colour – it’s up to you! By the end of the session, everyone will have a drawing to be proud of! Finally, we’ll tidy up together and children will be able to share and talk about their work if they would like to.

I am a qualified art teacher with over 17 years experience helping students of all ages develop their abilities! All my drawing exercises are tried and tested and have helped thousands of children and adults to improve their drawing skills. I hold an up to date DBS certificate and children over 8 are welcome to attend the workshop independently or be accompanied by one parent if they prefer.
