You will learn how to split and flatten straw before cutting and gluing onto wooden blanks to create your own vibrant hanging decorations.
This course is ideal for anyone interested in upcycling, surface and furniture design.
With a history going back to 17th century, it has seen a revival in high-end furniture.
Straw marquetry still uses traditional hand tools, making it the perfect ‘kitchen table’ craft.
All abilities welcome, suitable for beginners. This course requires a level of dexterity.
All materials are provided; please wear closed-toe shoes.

Age suitability – Adults 18+ (16/17 only if accompanied by a responsible “paying” adult). Regrettably, as the teaching space, within the upstairs gallery, is limited, no accompanying children are permissible within the class.
