‘Welcome to the Montague OPEN Summer Exhibition 24’
This inaugural event will coincide with the wonderful ‘Worthing Festival A celebration of Arts and culture in our town.
The well established Montague Gallery already hosts over 40 resident artists in the Lower Gallery but this is an exclusive opportunity for other emerging and established Sussex artists, to take part in a carefully curated exhibition in our Upper Gallery at the heart of Worthing Town Centre for four weeks.
Without a predefined theme, artists are invited to explore boundless creativity, ensuring a rich tapestry of interpretations. embracing artistic diversity and community spirit.
Join us in discovering, displaying and celebrating local Sussex artistic talent, in this ‘Summer Exhibition’ that promises to be an enriching and rewarding experience for artists and enthusiasts alike.

Conditions of Entry
- Any artist over 16 Living in Sussex may submit.
- Not open to existing Montague Gallery Resident Artists.
Paintings, Drawings, Prints, Photography, Glass Ceramics, Sculpture , Wood, metal, Assemblage, textiles.
All work must be submitted online using the form below;
– Upload your work by noon 6th May 2024.
Images must be in JPEG or PNG format and no larger than 1MB
- We recommend that artists submit well in advance of the deadline to allow time for assistance with their application if required.
- There is a non-refundable entry fee of £10 per work for standard entries.
- Pre-selection from online entries will take place, after which pre-selected works should be delivered to Montague Gallery for final selection by the panel.
- Selectors’ decisions are final and we are unable to offer feedback.
- 25% commission will be taken on all sales
- A maximum of 4 works may be submitted, from which amaximum of 4 works may be selected.
- It Must be your own recent work, ready to hang or display, and must be for sale.
- Packaging from delivered works cannot be retained and must be taken away at the point of delivery. We are unable to wrap works or provide wrapping materials for any works being collected.
- Frames must be undamaged with D-Rings and cord.
- Metal frames, clip frames, are inadmissible.
- Hanging work should not be larger than 85cm along the longest dimension.
- 2D Work: must be clearly labelled on the back with your name and the title of the work.THE NAME AND TITLES ON YOUR LABELS MUST BE THE SAME AS THE NAME AND TITLE GIVEN ON THIS E-FORM. We cannot accept any work that does not have your name and title on it.
- 3D work : must be free standing or wall mounted and similarly labelled in a suitable place
- The criteria for the selection will be to choose a fair and representative range to exhibit on the basis of impact, quality and variety.
- There are over £500 of prizes and awards available to win .

- Unless otherwise advised, the gallery will charge a 25% commission on the total price paid for works, including commissioned works, before, during, or as a result of the exhibition.
- Once work has been submitted, any sale made by the gallery before or during the exhibition shall take precedence and supersede one made privately. Any private sale will incur the normal commission.
- The price provided is the selling price and is the price that the work must be sold at. This price can only be changed by prior written agreement between the gallery and the artist of the relevant work. The gallery reserves the right to query the price of works.

- Notification of pre selection May 13th
- Delivery of pre-selected works Sunday 19th
- Notification of final selection: May 27th
- Collection of unaccepted work: May 28th/29th 10am till 4pm
- Private View and Official Opening Friday 7th June
- Exhibition opens: Saturday 8th June 10am
- Exhibition closes: Sunday 7th July, 4pm
- Collection of unsold work: Monday 8th July 9.30 am to 4pm
- All works must be an original creation by the artist.
- The copyright and all other intellectual property rights will remain with the artist. The gallery has the right to reproduce works in connection with the exhibition.
- The gallery will hold personal data in accordance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).However the gallery may provide third parties with an artist’s contact details in the course of administering exhibitions, commissions and prizes.
- The gallery is not responsible for any loss of, or any damage to, works entrusted to them. All goods are at artist owner’s risk absolutely and the gallery and/or their agents exclude all liability to the maximum extent permitted by law so artists are advised to insure their works against all risks.
- The gallery endeavours to take good care of works delivered for exhibition, but in the event of a work delivered being lost, destroyed or damaged the gallery’s liability (if any) shall not exceed the value of the work as stated at the time of submission (less 25%) or any altered price subsequently.
