I am inspired and engaged by capturing the human form and face through drawing and painting from life, currently as a member of the Drawing Room BN11. The Drawing Room brings to Worthing a diverse and eclectic range of models each week and I really enjoy the challenge of time limited opportunities through which to balance style, pose and personality. I am learning to get more comfortable when enough is enough on the one hand, and when an investment in more time can bring aesthetic dividends, on the other.
Clive has a degree in creative arts and an art teaching qualification from the Institute of Education. Despite never formally teaching, Clive retained an interest in drawing and painting and was occasionally able to collaborate with artistic communities while living in London, Bangkok and Sydney. On his return to live in his home town of Worthing in 2019, Clive was looking for local creative opportunities but Covid got in the way. Then in late 2023 Clive found the Drawing Room BN11community who have since encouraged, supported and inspired him to re-embrace his creative side and prioritise the time to paint and draw, alongside his professional practice as an organisational and well-being coach.
Clive was proud to have three sketches accepted for the Inaugural Montague Summer Open ’24, and is beyond delighted to have the chance to exhibit his work in the Guest Artist space in September 2025.
