A fun and informative workshop for all abilities. As a group we will warm up through drawing exercises designed to help everybody loosen up and feel comfortable drawing together. We will then focus on creating some sketches of a variety of different animals from photographs.
With guidance each participant will explore how to capture the likeness, how to measure and consider proportion whilst retaining their individual artistic style.
Finally we will chose one image each (this could be one that you have brought from home) and we will focus for the remainder of the session on capturing the likeness, keeping the drawing in proportion and maintaining character.

How many people are in each workshop?
There is a maximum of 6 people per course.
The workshop I am interested in is sold out; do you have a waiting list?
You can be added to the waiting list if you cannot attend, or the course is sold out.
I have paid for a place in a workshop but am now unable to come. Is it possible to have a refund or a transfer?
If you are unable to attend a booked course you may be able to transfer to a new date if at least 14 days notice is given in writing by email to workshop@montaguegallery.co.uk However any cancellation with less than 48 hours notice is non-refundable and non transferrable.
Are refreshments provided?
We will take a short break for tea and biscuits for refreshments.
I'm left-handed, can I still join in?
Yes, that will not cause any problems.
Do I need to bring anything?
No, all materials and tools are provided.
I'm not artistic can I still join?
Yes, absolutely everyone is welcome!
Do I need to wear special clothing?
Be sure to wear clothes that won't matter getting a bit dirty!
Is this course suitable for children?
Age suitability – Adults 18+ (16/17 only if accompanied by a responsible “paying” adult). Regrettably, as the teaching space, within the upstairs gallery, is limited, no accompanying children are permissible within the class.
