Keeping an Art Journal

Event Date:
05/07/2025
Event Time:
1:30 pm
Event Location:
Montague Gallery
In this session, we will cover everything you need to know about keeping an art journal or visual diary – perfect for the holiday season!
We’ll go over different kinds of sketchbooks and how you can make or adapt your own. You’ll gain an insight into the benefits of keeping an art journal and have a clear method to structure and fill each page. By the end of the class, you will have filled at least one or two pages and leave with a greater confidence in how to make your journal practice an integral and rewarding part of your daily life!
Please note to get the most out of this session, it helps to have photos to work from (either printed or on a phone/tablet). Photos should be moments from your recent life and could include meals, your garden, a corner of a room or anything else you might like to include. If you don’t have photos on the day, don’t worry! There will be pictures you can work from at the session.
All paper and drawing/painting materials will be provided but feel free to bring along your own journal if you have one.
Should you wish to purchase a small sketchbook for the class (although this is NOT REQUIRED), please make sure the paper is HEAVY and will stand up to watercolour.
