Printing for All: Creating Sun Prints
Event Date:
09/09/2023
Event Time:
10:30 am
Event Location:
Montague Gallery
No experience or drawing skills needed.
Local printmaker Marta Jim will show you how to create impressive prints from start to finish using simple objects and sunlight.
This workshop is designed for the complete beginner. We will use an old photographic printing process called cyanotype, which uses a combination of chemicals and UV light or sun exposure to create beautiful blue images.
This is a quick and easy process that you can do at home after this introduction, even with children!
We will use organic shapes and objects such as flowers and leaves as well as paper and other materials. These objects will produce silhouettes on your paper, which will change colour as soon as it is exposed to sunlight. We will be moving from indoors to outdoors throughout the session.
You will take home your beautiful cyanotype prints, perfect as gifts, greeting cards or for your home.
Everything you need will be provided. Please note that the chemicals we will use are not toxic but may stain your clothes – feel free to bring an apron or suitable clothes.
