Character. Charisma. Colour.
I am both inspired and engaged by capturing the human form, features and face through drawing and painting from life and live online. I relish the challenge of time limited opportunities through which to harness energy, emotion and personality through gesture, texture and colour. I am learning to get more comfortable when enough is enough on the one hand, and when an investment in more time can bring aesthetic dividends, on the other.
This small inaugural collection of my work explores the figure through shifting palettes and styles. It celebrates the raw, human immediacy of the drawn line and it is my hope that it demonstrates an exciting balance between quiet poise, bold confidence and intimate vulnerability.
I have a degree in creative arts and an art teaching qualification from the University of London Institute of Education. Despite never formally teaching, I always retained an interest in drawing and painting and was occasionally able to collaborate with artistic communities while living in London, Bangkok and Sydney. On my return to live in my home town of Worthing in 2019, I was looking for local creative opportunities but Covid got in the way. Then in late 2023 I found the Drawing Room BN11 community. They, alongside an incredible and eclectic range of life models, have since encouraged, supported and inspired me to re-embrace my creative side and prioritise the time to paint and draw, alongside my professional practice as an organisational and well-being coach.
I was proud to have sketches displayed at the Montague Summer Open Exhibitions in ’24 & ’25 and I’m now delighted to have this chance to exhibit my work in the Guest Artist space in September 2025.
