Join us for a hands-on 4-hour creative workshop where you’ll design and make your own beautiful mosaic suitable for outdoor use — perfect for gardens, patios, balconies, or as a feature piece for your home.
Working with durable materials and learning the direct method of mosaic, you’ll be guided step-by-step through:
✨ Designing your mosaic
✨ Cutting and shaping tiles
✨ Safe tool use
✨ Composition, colour and pattern
✨ Fixing your mosaic ready for outdoor conditions
This workshop is suitable for beginners and those with some mosaic experience. You’ll leave with your mosaic mounted and ready for the final stage.
Important: Due to drying time, grouting will be completed at home. Full instructions and guidance will be provided so you can confidently finish your piece.
All materials are included — just bring your creativity and clothes you don’t mind getting a bit dusty!

How many people are in each workshop?
There is a maximum of 10 people per course.
The workshop I am interested in is sold out; do you have a waiting list?
You can be added to the waiting list if you cannot attend, or the course is sold out.
I have paid for a place in a workshop but am now unable to come. Is it possible to have a refund or a transfer?
If you are unable to attend a booked course you may be able to transfer to a new date if at least 14 days notice is given in writing by email to workshop@montaguegallery.co.uk However any cancellation with less than 48 hours notice is non-refundable and non transferrable.
Are refreshments provided?
We will take a short break for tea and biscuits for refreshments.
I'm left-handed, can I still join in?
Yes, that will not cause any problems.
Do I need to bring anything?
No, all materials and tools are provided.
I'm not artistic can I still join?
Yes, absolutely everyone is welcome!
Do I need to wear special clothing?
Be sure to wear clothes that won't matter getting a bit dirty!
Is this course suitable for children?
Age suitability – Adults 18+ (16/17 only if accompanied by a responsible “paying” adult). Regrettably, as the teaching space, within the upstairs gallery, is limited, no accompanying children are permissible within the class.
